Omaha entrepreneur Wendy Melissa Blotcky will host “Making More Money,” a conference designed specifically for Spanish-speaking business owners looking to scale their operations and overcome common barriers to success. The one-day event, scheduled for June 28, 2025 will provide practical tools and insights for all stages of the business journey.
Blotcky, who immigrated from Peru in 2007 and founded Immigration Forms Specialist, LLC and Academia Latinos Unidos in Omaha, understands firsthand the unique challenges facing Latino entrepreneurs.
“When I got to Nebraska, my first year as a business owner was difficult. There wasn’t a lot of help in Spanish for entrepreneurs,” Blotcky recalls. “I invested a lot of money in creating my business. That’s why I decided to create this conference.”
Blotcky drew on her educational and professional experiences, including business classes at Creighton University, numerous national entrepreneurship conferences, and valuable guidance from her personal mentors to create the conference content. Participants can expect to learn practical marketing strategies, discover funding opportunities through grants, and receive guidance on avoiding costly startup mistakes.
“I want to share not only what has helped me, but also help others avoid the mistakes I made that cost me thousands of dollars,” says Blotcky. “I also want to share ways to get grants and help break through some of the limitations Spanish-speaking business owners might face.”
Beyond practical business advice, the conference aims to refresh participants’ entrepreneurial spirit and motivate them to dream big. Blotcky hopes to reach business owners who may be facing challenges or limitations and need to revitalize their motivation and outlook.
For those interested in learning more about the conference, Blotcky shares elements of the program every Saturday at 9 am on her weekly radio show on La Nueva Radio 99.5 FM. During these broadcasts, she also features guest experts including real estate agents, financial advisors, and tax professionals who share valuable insights for business owners.
Blotcky’s own entrepreneurial journey began after moving to Omaha in 2022 to be closer to her daughter. Two years later she opened Academia Latinos Unidos, which provides ESL classes, citizenship test preparation with a 100% pass rate, GED courses, emotional intelligence training in Spanish, and was just certified by the Department of Motor Vehicles to offer bilingual driver’s education.
Registration for the “Making More Money” conference is now open. Interested entrepreneurs can secure their spot by calling Blotcky’s office at (402) 350-9157 or visiting the Enterprise Center in Omaha, located at 4611 S 96th St on the corner of L St and 96th St.
This one-day event is just the beginning of Blotcky’s business education aspirations. She plans to offer the conference twice a year and use the content as the foundation for an online course focused on entrepreneurial best practices.
This conference is just one more way Blotcky continues to empower Omaha’s Latino community, this time focusing exclusively on business owners, arming them with the knowledge and connections needed to thrive in today’s competitive marketplace.
