Latinas across Iowa are invited to nominate a JEFA or share their own story for a chance to be featured in the upcoming regional edition.

JEFAS® Magazine Iowa is getting ready for a new edition, and the search is officially open for Latinas across Iowa who are building businesses, creating opportunities and making a real impact in their communities.

We are looking for Latinas who would like to be considered for a feature in the next Iowa edition of the magazine, to be published next fall. The open call invites the community to nominate a JEFA or encourage a Latina entrepreneur, business owner, creative, organizer or community leader to share her own story for the chance to appear in JEFAS® Magazine Iowa edition.

We want to read stories that reflect leadership, perseverance, representation, community, culture, growth, vision and impact. The goal is to celebrate the women behind them: their work, their challenges, their purpose and the legacy they are creating.

How the JEFAS® Magazine Iowa selection process works

The process begins with the application. Applicants and nominees are encouraged to take their time and share specific, thoughtful answers. The editorial team wants to get to know the full story, not just basic information. The more details a woman shares about her journey, her business, her community and her “why,” the stronger her application can be.

After applications are submitted, the editorial team will review the applications and look for stories that align with the spirit of JEFAS®. Selected applicants may then be contacted by a writer for an interview, either in person, by phone or virtually. A photographer may also be assigned to capture their JEFA side for the magazine.

Moving through the process does not automatically guarantee a final spot in the publication. However, every story begins in the same place: filling out the application.

JEFAS® Magazine is a space created to recognize Latinas who are leading with purpose, building with courage and opening doors for others. It is about representation that feels real, community that creates connection and stories that remind the next generation that Latina leadership belongs everywhere.

So, Iowa, who makes you say: “She is a JEFA”?

Nominate her. Share the application with her. Or, if that woman is you, this is your sign to tell your story.
