Letter from the Publisher

Erika Macias, President and Publisher.
The words in these stories hold deep meaning, resonating with every strong woman who dares to break new ground. They speak to women forging paths toward success and entrepreneurship—never giving up, even in the face of uncertainty.
These women embrace challenges, constantly learning and striving for excellence. Some, even from a young age, have a clear vision of their goals, whether starting their own businesses, leading major companies, or excelling as artists, architects, or musicians. Their journeys are marked by purpose and determination.
No matter their chosen path, the women we celebrate share one powerful trait: they are JEFAS. They are mothers, daughters, wives, cousins, aunts, and sisters—yet so much more. These remarkable women are the backbone of their families and communities, lifting others with gratitude and support. To me, they embody the spirit of heroines.
Curating the winter edition of JEFAS has been an incredibly rewarding experience. I believe there are many more inspiring Latina women to feature, and I’m excited about sharing their stories in the future. This project is about magnifying the voices of Latinas in the Midwest and preserving their powerful narratives for future generations.
The impact of strong Latinas in the U.S. is profound, and we are here to celebrate that legacy with pride. JEFAS is not just a magazine: it’s a movement, building connections and creating opportunities for those often overlooked. And we’re just getting started.
This experience has been filled with joy and friendship, reminding me of my own journey when I first arrived in the U.S. without speaking English, but with boundless determination. I learned that the best way to overcome fear and find fulfillment is by helping others with passion without expecting anything in return. This mindset not only transforms you but also the lives of those around you.
I invite you to become part of the JEFAS community, where every story matters, every dream counts, and every woman has the power to make a difference!
With profound gratitude and excitement.
